It began as a collaboration between a local author and I.  She had written some children's books and asked me to make a song about one of them.  The first time I performed the song for a classroom full of second graders, I was hooked.  I had been heavily involved in music since high school, but never took it seriously, only as a hobby.  As I walked out of the school where I had just finished performing I was overwhelmed at the children shouting my lyrics.  They were belting out historical facts many adults don't even know They had learned something new that day and were genuinely excited about it.  It took me an hour longer to leave because of all the autographs I had to sign.  The teachers were ecstatic and prodded me as to when a CD would be available for them to purchase.  I knew then that I had found my calling.

I went on to write the Official Rap for the National Head Start Association and have performed it at conventions and various Head Start locations across the country.  I wrote a song for CANI (Community Action of Northeast Indiana) and performed it during Fort Wayne's annual Three Rivers Festival Parade.  I've written jingles for Kia, Radabaugh Auctioneers & Real Estate, and other local establishments.  The most powerful piece of music I have written so far would have to be the song I wrote when my youngest son Keithan was diagnosed with three malignant brain tumors.  I teamed up with Keithan's mother Trina and made a beautiful ballad called Keithan's Anthem.  I never saw a song bring tears of hope and inspiration to so many people.  Both Keithan and his older brother Davion are big fans of my music and I try to involve them as much as I can.

I have some new songs debuting with this website.  One is called
"Get It Together":

First thing on my plate as I attempt to educate
The youth for whom some reason love to hesitate
On the things they could do with their lives to make them great
And before they know it (horn) it's just too late
The truth I epitomize just so these kids realize
The opportunity that lies right before their eyes
The ones that have drive are the ones who will strive
And as they rise boy it's no surprise
Let me take you to a side where you can live with pride
With what you do as a career not just a hobby on the side
If its direction you need, I will gladly provide
…"

A song that focuses on young people making sure that they take advantage of all the opportunity that is available to them, how to remain positive, and how to follow their dreams.  I also have a new song called
"Don't Lie":

"…These words that I dictate will hopefully motivate
And educate all about how honesty hates
Those lies. Let me translate; lying burns like a hot plate
Success is on your mind so lying shouldn't equate
…"

"Dont Lie" is a fairly self explanatory piece, one in which I also explain how it was not as easy obstacle for myself to overcome.  Most recently I finished a song about Abraham Lincoln that is a class favorite wherever I go.  Here is a sample of
"Lincoln":

You really should know he owned a general store
And  that his eyes were grey and that he stood 6'4"
Born in 1809 he didn't have nothing fancy
His dad was Tom and his mom was Nancy
…"

This is a high energy piece involving a lot of crowd participation.  Afterwards, the students know more about Lincoln than most of their parents do.  WARNING:  This song is not very easy to get out of your head once it gets in!

The music that I use to make these songs is nothing cheesy, corny, or too childish.  I use the same kind of beats the kids hear from mainstream Hip-Hop so that the older students enjoy it as much as the younger ones do.

The way I see it, if you would give your child $15 - 20 dollars for a Hip-Hop CD in which God only knows what they will be listening to, why not spend $7 dollars for a CD in which they will definitely take something good away from it.
